We'd love to welcome the right person to our team.
At St Fillans Medical Centre we're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys helping people, thrives in a busy environment and wants to be part of a friendly practice that is continually evolving.
General Practice has changed enormously over the last few years and no two days are ever the same. We know it can be busy, challenging and sometimes unpredictable, but it's also incredibly rewarding. Every day you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference to our patients, often during moments when they need us most.
We're not looking for someone who's simply searching for another reception job. We're looking for someone who wants to become part of our practice family.
About St Fillans
We're a community-based GP surgery in the heart of Penwortham caring for around 8,000 patients.
Our practice has a real village feel and we're proud to support local initiatives and build strong relationships with our patients. We believe healthcare should still feel personal, even in an ever-changing NHS.
We're also passionate about improving the way we work. Whether that's embracing new technology, introducing new ideas or developing our staff, we're always looking at ways to make life better for both our patients and our team.
You'll be joining a supportive, approachable and hardworking group of people who genuinely enjoy working together and who aren't afraid to have a laugh along the way.
The Role
As one of our Receptionist/Administrators you'll be the first person many of our patients speak to or meet when they contact the practice.
That means you'll play a huge part in creating a positive experience for our patients whilst helping the surgery run smoothly behind the scenes.
Administrative Duties
· Work as part of the reception/admin team, providing front-line support to patients both in person and via telephone
· Monitor and respond to patient requests received via the practice’s triage system (currently AccuRX)
· Answer incoming phone calls, and answer patient queries
· Liaise with patients to resolve queries on the front desk
· Manage all queries as necessary in a professional manner, demonstrating a high level of customer service
· Assist with general administrative and reception duties such as handling patient queries, booking appointments, managing correspondence and maintaining patient records
· Signpost patients to the correct service
· Process incoming and outgoing mail
· Process prescription requests
· Action tasks
· Read code data on EMIS
· Carry out system searches as requested
· Coding and workflow of clinical documents, assisted by AI software
· Photocopy/scan documentation as required
· Process new and temporary patient registrations and relevant patient information as required
· Record data in patient’s healthcare records as necessary
· Process requests for information i.e. SAR, insurance/solicitors letters, other forms in line with practice standard operating procedures (SOP’s)
· Maintain a clear, tidy and effective working area at all times
· Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards
· Support all clinical staff and the management team with general tasks as requested
No two days are the same, so you'll need to be organised, adaptable and able to remain calm under pressure.
We'd love to hear from you if you:
- Enjoy working with people and providing excellent customer service
- Are friendly, approachable and compassionate
- Can work well as part of a team
- Have good IT skills and enjoy learning new systems
- Are organised with excellent attention to detail
- Can confidently manage a varied workload
- Bring a positive attitude and enjoy contributing new ideas
Experience within General Practice or the NHS would be an advantage, but it isn't essential. We know that great people can come from many different backgrounds, so if you have transferable skills and the right attitude, we'd love to hear from you.
