We are seeking a motivated and caring Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly General Practice team. You will play a vital role in supporting clinical staff and delivering high-quality patient care within a busy primary care setting.
The successful candidate will be patient-focused, organised, and able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Undertake routine clinical tasks under the direction of the Practice Nurse or GP, including:
- Blood pressure monitoring
- Height, weight, BMI measurements
- Phlebotomy
- Urinalysis
- ECG recordings
- Support chronic disease clinics (e.g. diabetes, asthma, COPD)
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
- Maintain accurate clinical records using the practice clinical system
- Ensure infection prevention and control procedures are followed
- Stock and prepare clinical rooms and equipment
- Support health promotion and patient education where appropriate
Person Specification
Essential:
- NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) or willingness to work towards
- Previous experience in a healthcare or care setting
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection
- Experience working in a GP practice or primary care setting
- Phlebotomy qualification
- Care Certificate
- Knowledge of SystmOne and clinical software
