Job Summary
We are seeking a professional HGV Class 1 driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods, primarily using flatbed trailers, across various locations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers with a background in commercial driving and delivery operations to contribute to a dynamic logistics operation. The position involves delivering goods in a timely manner while maintaining high safety standards and excellent customer service.
Duties
- Operate HGV Class 1 vehicles, including container work and General work , lorries, ensuring compliance with all road safety and legal regulations.
- Conduct pre-journey checks on the vehicle to ensure it is fit for purpose.
- Safely load and secure cargo onto flatbed trailers, adhering to proper handling procedures.
- Deliver goods to designated locations, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries.
- Complete all necessary documentation accurately, including delivery notes and vehicle logs.
- Maintain communication with the dispatch team regarding delivery schedules and any issues encountered during journeys.
- Follow health and safety protocols at all times, including adherence to driving hours regulations.
- Assist with loading and unloading when required, ensuring cargo is handled safely and efficiently.
Requirements
- Valid HGV Class 1 licence with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly with flatbed trailers or similar equipment.
- Delivery driver experience is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations and best practices for cargo securement.
- Ability to operate vehicles safely over long distances and in various weather conditions.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail for completing paperwork accurately.
- Flexibility to work various shifts as required, including early mornings or late evenings if necessary.
- Physical fitness to handle loading/unloading tasks when needed.
