The Role
As Deputy Children's Respite Home Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day leadership of the home, ensuring children receive high-quality, person-centred care that meets the requirements of the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016, the Regulated Services (Service Providers and Responsible Individuals) (Wales) Regulations 2017, and Social Care Wales standards.
You will lead the service in the Registered Manager's absence and play a key role in developing staff, maintaining compliance, and promoting positive outcomes for children and young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager with the daily operation of the home.
- Lead shifts and manage the home in the Registered Manager's absence.
- Supervise, mentor and support Residential Support Workers.
- Promote and respond to safeguarding, children's rights and positive behaviour support.
- Ensure care plans, risk assessments and daily records are accurate and up to date.
- Support recruitment, inductions, supervisions and staff development.
- Complete audits and monitor compliance with CIW regulations, policies and procedures.
- Develop positive relationships with children, families, local authorities and partner agencies.
- Participate in the weekend working and on-call rota (included in salary)
- Contribute to continuous improvement and help maintain high standards across the service.
- Participate in night shift where required (Night shift allowance paid)
Essential Requirements
- Level 3 Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) qualification or equivalent.
- Level 4 or 5 Leadership and Management qualification, or willingness to work towards this.
- Experience working within a children's residential setting.
- Experience in working with children with disabilities, additional learning needs and complex needs
- A minimum of 2 years experience within children's residential/respite care responsibilities.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, CIW regulations and children's legislation in Wales.
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
