A warm, welcoming family in London is looking for a kind, organised and dependable person for a flexible hybrid role: after-school care for our five-year-old son, combined with household support and home organisation. We're relaxed about the job title — the position sits somewhere between a house manager/household assistant and a nanny — and we're hoping to find one brilliant person who genuinely enjoys both sides.
Hours & Pay
- Full-time, Monday to Friday — around 40 hours per week (for example 8am–4pm or 9am–5pm, agreed together), covering the school run at each end of the day with household work in between.
- £18–£22 per hour gross, depending on experience (roughly £37,400–£45,800 per year gross at 40 hours/week).
- Permanent, live-out position, starting early September.
The Childcare Side (the heart of the role)
This is more school runs and hands-on childminding than a full career-nanny position:
- Walking our son to school in the mornings and collecting him in the afternoons.
- Accompanying him to after-school clubs and activities, and staying with him into the early evening.
- Providing engaged, energetic daytime care during school holidays.
- Confident sole charge is essential, as there will be times when you'd be the main adult looking after him.
The Household Side
We've recently moved and are mid-renovation, so during term-time school hours (and quieter moments in the holidays) there's plenty to sink your teeth into:
- Unpacking and setting up rooms.
- Organising the kitchen, wardrobes and basement.
- Shelving books, filing paperwork and light home admin/PA tasks.
- Being a calm, trusted, consistent presence — we'd much rather have one great person than a rotating cast of helpers.
About You
- Genuine childcare experience with school-age children. Formal nanny qualifications are welcome but not required — warmth, reliability and good judgement matter far more to us.
- An enhanced DBS check and excellent, verifiable references (or a willingness to obtain them).
- Naturally organised and proactive, happy switching between childcare and household tasks in the same day.
- IMPORTANT - Comfortable and confident around pets — we share our home with an elderly husky and a cat.
- Living in or near London, within comfortable reach for daily school runs.
- The right to work in the UK.
How the Role Develops
From September, the day settles into a steady full-time rhythm: the morning school run, household management and PA duties during school hours, then pick-up and after-school care into the early evening. This is a permanent, long-term role for the right person.
