We are excited to announce we are looking for a Deputy Chief Engineer position within our Part 145 team at RAF Valley. This is a key leadership role supporting the Chief Engineer in delivering safe, compliant, and efficient maintenance operations across our fleet.
As Deputy Chief Engineer, you will provide effective leadership and management of maintenance colleagues and maintenance supervision, supporting the Chief Engineer to ensure compliance with all regulatory and company requirements and procedures. Works collaboratively with Operations, CAMO, Planning, Procurement and technical departments to achieve required quality and cost targets, alongside the delivery of maintenance with a strong customer focus.
Working Pattern: This role operates on a rotating early and late shift pattern, Monday to Friday.
Candidates must hold a CAA B1.1 Aircraft Maintenance Licence.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Deputise for the Chief Engineer and uphold engineering standards across all maintenance areas.
- Ensure safe and compliant delivery of maintenance activities in line with MOE and regulatory requirements.
- Maximise aircraft availability to meet contractual obligations.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration to align asset management and maintenance plans.
- Manage and mentor the Part 145 maintenance teams.
- Monitor fleet engineering status and resolve technical issues.
- Ensure proper certification and record-keeping of all maintenance activities.
- Maintain parity in engineering decisions across sites.
- Assess and review competence of maintenance personnel.
- Ensure safe facilities, adequate resources, and compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Support AOG recovery and tooling/GSE/equipment standards.
Essential Experience & Qualifications:
- Proven experience managing large aircraft fleets in regulated environments (Civilian or Military).
- Strong knowledge of Part 145, MRP 145, and Part M regulations.
- CAA Part 66 B1/B2 Licence holder.
- Understanding of Part 66 licence qualifications and ERP systems (preferably Rusada).
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence at all levels.
- UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Experience & Qualifications:
- Experience in CAP562 Leaflet B40 organisations.
- Military environment experience.
- Recognised Level 4 qualification in Leadership/Management.
- Category C Licence.
Eligibility & Security Requirements:
- Must have resided in the UK continuously for the past 3 years
- Must hold the legal right to work in the UK
- Will be required to undergo MOD Security Clearance, including 3 years’ reference checks
- Verification of essential qualifications, licences, and passport at interview stage
