Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Retail Assistant/Warehouse Operative to join our team. This role involves supporting the smooth operation of our retail space and warehouse, ensuring excellent customer service, efficient stock management, and organisation. Duties
- Assist customers on the shop floor by providing friendly and professional service
- Manage stock levels, organise merchandise displays, and ensure products are well-presented
- Operate warehouse equipment safely to receive, store, and dispatch goods
- Maintain accurate inventory records and perform stock checks regularly
- Process sales transactions efficiently using the point-of-sale system
- Upsell products to maximise sales opportunities while maintaining excellent customer relations
- Keep the retail and warehouse areas clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety standards
- Handle phone enquiries courteously, providing information or directing calls as appropriate
- Support with organising deliveries and preparing orders for dispatch
- Assist in merchandising activities to enhance the shopping experience
Skills
- Retail experience would be an advantage
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Excellent communication skills, including phone etiquette and customer engagement
- Basic maths skills for handling transactions and stock counts accurately
- Good time management to balance multiple responsibilities efficiently
- Ability to work well within a team as well as independently when required
- Multilingual or bilingual abilities are considered a significant asset for serving diverse customers
- Experience in merchandising or retail environments is beneficial but not essential
- Organised with good attention to detail to ensure stock accuracy and presentation standards are maintained
- Flexibility to work at both of our sites, Annan and Dumfries.
