The Deputy Finance Manager will support the Financial Controller in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective cost control, and compliance with statutory obligations. The role will act as second-in-command within the department, deputising for the Financial Controller when required, and contributing to the financial strategy of Stoke Park to support business growth and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts.
- Support budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting to management and stakeholders.
- Monitor and analyse departmental and operational costs, recommending efficiencies
Compliance & Control
- Ensure all financial processes and procedures comply with UK accounting standards, HMRC regulations, and company policies.
- Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Assist in managing external and internal audits, ensuring full compliance.
Operational Finance
- Oversee daily operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll liaison, and banking.
- Ensure supplier invoices, payments, and staff reimbursements are processed accurately and on time.
- Monitor cash flow and support treasury management.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Supervise and mentor finance team members, providing training and support as needed.
- Collaborate with Heads of Department to provide financial insight that supports operational decision-making.
- Deputise for the Financial Controller in their absence, representing Finance in management meetings and decision forums.
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to cost control, profitability, and value creation.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant financial regulations and best practice.
- Promote a positive team culture within the Finance Department and across the business
General Responsibilities:
- All employees are expected to be fully familiar with, and adhere to, the hotel’s policies and procedures relating to fire safety, emergency evacuation, first aid, health and safety, and security.
- Staff must also ensure they understand and follow the guidance outlined in the Employee Handbook, as well as any relevant notices displayed in key operational areas throughout the estate.
