Occupational Health Advisor – 2 Days per Week
Location: Glenfield, Leicester (LE3), Barrow upon Soar, Loughborough (LE12) & Magna Park (LE17 4XW)
Hours: 2 days per week, with occasional evening shifts
Salary: Negotiable, dependent on skills and experience Up to £60,000 PA Pro Rata
Contract: Permanent, Part-Time
The Role
OH Medical is looking for an experienced Occupational Health Advisor to join a leading FMCG company and their in-house Occupational Health team on a part-time permanent basis, working 2 days per week.
This is a varied role covering sites across Glenfield, Leicester, Barrow upon Soar, Loughborough and Magna Park. There will also be a requirement to work occasional evening shifts to support employees working across different shift patterns.
We're looking for a collaborative and pragmatic Occupational Health professional who is comfortable working autonomously and providing high-quality, practical Occupational Health advice across a busy operational environment.
As an Occupational Health Advisor, your typical duties will include:
- Undertaking health surveillance, including lung function testing and audiometry, depending on workplace hazards.
- Receiving, interpreting and managing complex health information from employees, managers and HR.
- Providing clear recommendations regarding fitness for work, workplace adjustments and restrictions where appropriate.
- Communicating clinical information clearly and effectively to non-clinical employees and managers.
- Working autonomously and providing specialist Occupational Health advice to managers and employees.
- Delivering health promotion and wellbeing advice, initiatives and campaigns.
- Supporting health-related risk management and risk reduction.
- Helping to identify and prevent work-related ill health.
- Assessing the impact of work and specific tasks on employees' health.
- Advising on the management of health emergencies and first aid provision.
- Supporting the development, writing and implementation of Occupational Health policies.
About You
We're looking for an Occupational Health professional who is proactive, approachable and confident working independently while remaining part of the wider team.
You will ideally be:
- A team player who is equally comfortable working autonomously.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to manage your own workload.
- Focused on delivering practical solutions and completing agreed actions.
- Confident using your initiative and taking ownership of the Occupational Health service.
- Solution-focused with a straightforward and effective approach.
- Comfortable communicating with employees at every level, from operational colleagues through to senior managers and directors.
- Flexible enough to undertake occasional evening shifts when required to support the wider workforce.
Required Skills & Experience
- Registered Nurse with a current NMC registration.
- An Occupational Health diploma or degree is desirable.
- Previous experience working as an Occupational Health Nurse or Occupational Health Advisor.
- Experience undertaking both health surveillance and case management.
- Confidence working in a standalone or autonomous Occupational Health role.
- Experience in policy writing and implementation would be advantageous.
