The Council is at an exciting stage of a significant transformation programme, with the modernisation of both its finance and assurance functions playing a key role in delivering future ambitions.
We currently have opportunities for ambitious individuals who are looking to begin their journey as finance or audit professionals. Successful candidates will join either the Finance Team as a Trainee Accountant or the Internal Audit Team as a Trainee Auditor, receiving support to study towards a professional qualification, either CIPFA Accountancy or the IIA Internal Audit qualification.
Successful candidates will be valued members of their respective teams, supporting a wide range of Council services. Trainee Accountants will assist in the provision of budget management support, financial analysis, budget setting and the production of financial statements. Trainee Auditors will support the delivery of the internal audit programme, helping to review governance, risk management and control arrangements across the organisation.
The successful applicants will have excellent numerical, written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work to deadlines and respond to the changing needs of the service. They will be eager to learn, able to analyse complex information, identify trends and provide insightful and professional support to colleagues and stakeholders across the Council.
