Job Overview:
The Procurement and Operations Co-Ordinator will play a key role in supporting the efficient operation of the business by managing procurement activities, inventory control and logistical support across multiple sites. The role combines purchasing responsibilities with hands-on operational support, ensuring that parts, equipment, consumables and services are sourced cost-effectively and available when required to support maintenance, production and business operations.
Acting as a central link between our two sites in the Carnbane Industrial Estate and other operational locations, the successful candidate will ensure smooth communication, stock availability and the timely movement of materials, equipment and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Source parts, equipment, consumables and services from approved suppliers to support operational and production requirements.
- Obtain quotations, compare pricing and service offerings, and support supplier negotiations to achieve best value for the business.
- Raise purchase orders and maintain accurate procurement documentation and records.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers, monitoring performance and identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Manage stock levels and inventory to ensure materials and consumables are available when required while minimising excess stock holdings.
- Oversee goods inward processes, including receiving, checking and recording deliveries.
- Conduct regular stock checks and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Support loading and unloading activities and ensure materials are handled safely and efficiently.
- Carry out collections and deliveries between Newry, Derryboy and other operational sites as required.
- Act as a key liaison between sites, facilitating the movement of materials, equipment and information to support business operations.
- Provide operational support for urgent maintenance activities, production requirements and site-related issues.
- Assist with invoice checking, purchase order matching and delivery note reconciliation.
- Maintain accurate procurement, stock and operational records using internal systems and company procedures.
- Produce reports and analyse data using Microsoft Office and internal business systems.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and health and safety requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency, reducing costs and improving operational performance.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in procurement, purchasing, stores, inventory control or an operations support role.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Experience of maintaining records and producing reports.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience working within a manufacturing, engineering, construction or industrial environment.
- Knowledge of inventory management systems or ERP software.
- Experience of supplier management and procurement processes.
- Forklift licence or willingness to undertake training.
Hours of work: 8am to 5pm
