Home Tutor Required – Post-16 Learner (5 Hours per Week)
Location: Bromsgrove (home or local library, library preferred)
Start Date: September 2026
Hours: 5 hours per week (Monday and/or Tuesday, flexible mornings and afternoons)
We are seeking a compassionate, experienced English Tutor to support a Post-16 learner with a personalised education programme. This rewarding role is ideal for someone who enjoys building positive relationships and adapting learning to meet individual needs.
Tuition is required at GCSE, KS3 level.
About the Learner
The learner is academically capable, with particular strengths in Maths, Computing and creative subjects. They engage well when learning is linked to personal interests and benefit from a calm, structured approach.
The successful tutor will support both academic progress and confidence, creating an environment where the learner feels safe, motivated and able to succeed.
Essential Experience
- Experience supporting learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
- Ability to deliver engaging, differentiated 1:1 tuition.
- Confident adapting lessons into clear, manageable steps.
- Strong communication skills and a patient, empathetic approach.
Key Support Strategies
- Deliver consistent, structured 1:1 sessions.
- Use clear language, visual resources and scaffolded learning.
- Maintain predictable routines and prepare for transitions.
- Build in regular movement or regulation breaks.
- Create a calm, low-stimulation learning environment.
- Promote confidence, emotional wellbeing and increasing independence.
The Role
- Deliver up to 5 hours of tuition per week
- Sessions will take place at the learner's home or a local library (library preferred).
- Work collaboratively with the wider education team to support personalised learning outcomes.
- Adapt teaching to suit the learner's pace and individual learning profile.
