Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Guitar Teacher to deliver engaging music lessons within school environments. The successful candidate will inspire students to develop their musical skills, foster a love for guitar playing, and contribute positively to the school's arts programme. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young learners’ musical journeys while working within a supportive educational setting.
This is a self-employed position where you would be subcontracted work with Goffen Music Schools Ltd in schools we work with at times to suit you, within the school day, during term time.
Duties
- Deliver structured guitar lessons tailored to students’ ages and skill levels, ensuring an engaging and inclusive learning environment
- Develop customised lesson plans that align with the school’s curriculum and objectives
- Assess students’ progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to encourage improvement
- Teaching 1:1 and small group lessons.
- Maintain a safe and organised classroom environment, ensuring all equipment is used responsibly and correctly
- Collaborate with school staff and parents to support students’ musical development and participation in school concerts or events
- Keep accurate records of attendance, progress, and lesson plans for administrative purposes
- Focus on a fun learning environment promoting performance in assemblies termly, and planning their teaching to enable this.
Requirements
- Proven experience teaching guitar, ideally within a school or educational setting
- Strong proficiency in guitar playing across various styles and techniques
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire students of diverse ages and backgrounds
- Relevant qualifications in music or guitar performance are desirable but not essential if accompanied by substantial teaching experience
- Ability to organise engaging lessons that cater to different learning styles
- A positive attitude, patience, and enthusiasm for fostering young musicianship
- Enhanced DBS check or willingness to undergo one prior to teaching
- Safeguarding Certificate or willingness to acquire one prior to teaching
The range in the hourly rate is due to the type of teaching. 1:1 would be paid at the lower rate, groups of 3 or more private students at the higher, whereas groups subsidised by schools would be closer to £30 p/h.
