Two passionate and proactive Social Care Advisor to work within The Gateway to Care Team at Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council.

One of the most crucial elements of any Adult Social Care department is getting the first connection right for the people we are here to serve. This is because, for many people, reaching out to us for help, advice and support, can be a difficult and major step in their life.
The role of the Social Care Advisor is to listen hard to what people are telling us, focussing deeply on what they have reached out to us for, and come to understand the person’s wishes and feelings with regards to what really matters in terms of what a good life looks like to them.
The Social Care Advisor utilises their skills and knowledge to draw on the person’s strengths, informal networks, and community assets to meet their requirements and aspirations.
Responding promptly to people, supporting their independence, working hard to bring about stability and ensuring people maintain control of their life and remain connected to their community is what our Social Care Advisors do best.
As a busy and thriving service, our Social Care Advisors are typically all systems go, responding to people at the time they need us, working with them to live a better life. The work is both challenging and rewarding, where no two days are ever the same.
What we are looking for:
Ability to relate to people Your role as a Social Care Advisor is to have direct contact with people over the telephone. To join our existing team you will have an expert ability to quickly develop a trusting relationship with people, utilising a kind, empathetic and friendly approach.
Resourcefulness and creativity You will recognise that formal services are not always solutions. You will need to be useful, resourceful and creative when it comes to drawing on the strengths of our people, as well as your knowledge of the community assets available to problem solve and meet their requirements. You will need to be confident to challenge the status quo or preconceived ideas to enable this happen.
Adult Social Care Knowledge The type of person who will do well in this role will have experience and knowledge of adult social care. You may have direct lived or living experience of adult social care yourself, or maybe involved or close to someone who has. You may be a care worker or in a similar role and looking for your next career move. Whoever you are and whatever your experience is, it will provide you with a sound platform to build upon to fulfil the role of a Social Care Advisor and we would love to hear from you.
