Phillips1924 Homecare Services Ltd is looking for an experienced, motivated and organised Deputy Care Manager to join our growing Wales team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in domiciliary care, care coordination or care management who is looking to progress into a senior management position.
Working closely with the Registered Manager, you will support the day-to-day management and development of our Wales service, helping to ensure that people receive safe, effective, compassionate and person-centred care.
About the Role
As Deputy Care Manager, you will support the Registered Manager with the operational running of the service and provide leadership and support to the care team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the service.
- Assisting with the coordination and delivery of domiciliary care services.
- Supporting the development and review of care plans and risk assessments.
- Monitoring the quality of care being delivered.
- Supporting staff with day-to-day queries and operational issues.
- Assisting with staff rotas and ensuring appropriate staffing levels.
- Responding to staff sickness and helping to arrange suitable cover.
- Monitoring missed and late calls and ensuring appropriate action is taken.
- Supporting recruitment, induction and onboarding of care staff.
- Conducting staff supervisions and supporting performance management.
- Monitoring staff training and competency.
- Supporting medication and care-quality audits.
- Assisting with safeguarding concerns, incidents and complaints.
- Ensuring concerns are appropriately recorded, investigated and escalated.
- Supporting compliance with Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) requirements and company policies.
- Participating in quality assurance audits and improvement plans.
- Communicating with clients, families, social workers, healthcare professionals and other professionals.
- Supporting the Registered Manager with CIW registration and regulatory requirements.
- Assisting with preparing the service for CIW inspections and reviews.
- Acting as Deputy Manager in the Registered Manager's absence when required.
- Promoting a positive, supportive and person-centred culture within the team.

- Confident supporting and supervising care staff.
- Organised and able to prioritise a busy workload.
- A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Able to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Confident dealing with difficult or sensitive situations.
- Passionate about providing high-quality, person-centred care.
- Able to work independently and use their own initiative.
- Confident using IT systems and maintaining accurate records.
- Knowledgeable about safeguarding, medication, care planning and risk management.
- Committed to continuous improvement and high standards of care.
- Willing to develop their leadership and management skills.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
- Previous experience working within health and social care.
- Experience supporting or supervising care staff.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and person-centred care.
- Good understanding of care planning and risk assessments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work flexibly within a busy care environment.
Desirable:
- Experience in a Deputy Manager, Senior Carer, Care Coordinator or similar role.
- Experience within domiciliary care.
- Knowledge of Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) requirements.
- A relevant Health & Social Care qualification, such as Level 3 or above.
- Experience using electronic care management systems.
- Experience with staff rotas and care coordination.
- Experience supporting audits and quality assurance.
