Role Purpose:
The Contract Manager plays a key role in supporting the supply chain in managing compensation events, maintaining contract records and ensuring compliance with project governance and documentation requirements. They provide commercial and governance support to the Contract Manager in the management of NEC3 contracts for the MEH Alliance at Sizewell C. The role supports the effective administration of contracts during the delivery phase, ensuring contractual documentation, cost records, compensation event processes and reporting requirements are accurately maintained and controlled.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer NEC3 contracts from contract award through to completion and close-out.
- Manage compensation events in accordance with NEC3 processes including quotation assessment and negotiation.
- Develop and maintain cost baselines to support the evaluation of supplier quotations and compensation event submissions.
- Undertake detailed cost analysis of supplier quotations to validate assumptions, quantities, rates and scope alignment.
- Apply strong Quantity Surveying (QS) skills to assess cost impacts arising from change, variations and claims.
- Ensure compensation event quotations are benchmarked against contract baselines and market norms where appropriate.
- Monitor supplier performance against contractual obligations including cost, quality, safety and programme.
- Manage cost forecasting and commitment tracking for allocated contracts.
- Ensure contract risks are identified, managed and escalated appropriately.
- Maintain robust contract records, correspondence and governance documentation.
- Work closely with Supply Chain Managers and project teams to ensure supplier activities support programme delivery.
- Support dispute avoidance and resolution through proactive contract management and commercial negotiation.
Key Requirements
- Strong commercial and contract management experience within major infrastructure, engineering or nuclear projects.
- Demonstrated experience administering NEC contracts and managing compensation events.
- Strong Quantity Surveying capability including cost analysis, valuation and change management.
- Experience developing cost baselines and evaluating contractor quotations.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Membership of RICS or equivalent professional body desirable.
- Experience working within regulated industries or major infrastructure programmes beneficial.
- Strong analytical, commercial negotiation and cost management skills.
