BangGaBangGa Korean Restaurant – Manchester City Centre
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Assistant Manager to join our Korean restaurant in Manchester city centre.
This role is designed for someone who has the potential to grow into a Restaurant Manager position. We are looking for a candidate who combines strong practical restaurant experience with leadership ability, confident customer communication, commercial awareness and a genuine willingness to work hard alongside the team.
This is not an office-based management role. You will be expected to lead by example, support Front of House during busy periods, help the team wherever needed and take ownership of the smooth day-to-day running of the restaurant.
Management Development Programme
This role is intended for someone who wants to develop into a full Restaurant Manager.
We plan to provide a structured 12–24 month Restaurant Manager development programme, covering both practical restaurant operations and commercial management.
Training will include areas such as:
- shift leadership and team management
- recruitment, onboarding and staff training
- rota planning and labour control
- sales analysis and restaurant performance
- stock management, ordering and waste control
- food safety, cleaning and operational standards
- customer service and complaint handling
- performance management
- cost awareness and profitability
- systems, procedures and continuous improvement
- developing the judgement and accountability required to run the restaurant independently
The owners will also be undertaking further professional restaurant management training, and the relevant systems and methods will be incorporated into the development programme.
Progression will be based on demonstrated capability rather than simply time served. The aim is for the successful candidate to become capable of taking full responsibility for the day-to-day management and performance of the restaurant.
Key Responsibilities

- Deliver confident and professional Front of House service
- Handle customer enquiries, complaints, refunds and service issues
- Supervise opening and closing procedures

- Review basic sales, labour, stock and operational reports
- Understand how staffing, sales, waste and costs affect restaurant performance
- Identify operational problems and help improve systems and procedures
- Support the owners with the ongoing development of the restaurant
- Gradually take on greater responsibility for the overall management of the business

- Have previous experience as a Shift Leader, Supervisor, Assistant Manager or Restaurant Manager
- Be hands-on, hardworking and proactive
- Notice what needs doing without always waiting to be told
- Lead by example and be willing to serve customers, clear tables, clean, support the kitchen and help wherever necessary
- Have strong spoken English and be confident communicating with customers
- Be comfortable dealing with complaints and difficult situations
- Stay calm, organised and decisive during busy periods
- Be able to prioritise tasks and make sensible decisions under pressure
- Be confident giving direction and feedback to team members

- Have an interest in sales, labour costs, stock control and restaurant performance
- Be willing to work evenings, weekends and closing shifts

Experience in Korean or Asian restaurants would be helpful, but is not essential.
