Build a Career. Not Just a Job.
At Optimum Temperature Solutions, we’re not looking for someone to simply fill a vacancy. We’re looking for someone who wants to build a career.
This is an opportunity to join a growing refrigeration engineering business and learn from experienced engineers working on a wide variety of refrigeration systems across the food manufacturing industry.
You don’t need years of experience. We’re far more interested in your attitude, work ethic, problem-solving ability and willingness to learn. If you’re prepared to put the effort in, we’ll invest our time, knowledge and experience into helping you become an exceptional Refrigeration Engineer.
Our goal is simple: to develop engineers who solve problems, take ownership and do the right thing for the customer every time.
About Us
Optimum Temperature Solutions is a specialist refrigeration engineering company providing service, maintenance, installation and technical support for food manufacturers across the UK.
We work with some of the country’s leading bakeries and food manufacturers, helping keep their refrigeration systems reliable, efficient and sustainable.
We’re an ambitious business built on quality, professionalism and integrity. We believe in doing things properly, never cutting corners and always taking pride in our work. Those values apply just as much to developing our people as they do to looking after our customers.
The Role
You’ll work alongside experienced engineers from day one, learning the trade through real jobs on customer sites.
As your knowledge, confidence and ability develop, you’ll gradually take on more responsibility, progressing from assisting experienced engineers to carrying out suitable work independently while continuing to receive mentoring and support throughout your development.
Your responsibilities will include:
· Assisting with planned preventative maintenance.
· Supporting engineers with fault finding, repairs and breakdowns.
· Assisting with the installation and commissioning of refrigeration systems.
· Learning refrigeration principles, electrical controls and fault-finding techniques.
· Completing accurate digital job reports and recording site information.
· Maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety and housekeeping.
· Representing Optimum Temperature Solutions professionally on customer sites.
Every day is different, and every day is another opportunity to learn.
Travel Requirements
The majority of our work is based across the South East of England.
However, we support customers throughout the UK, so travel further afield and overnight stays will be required. From time to time, these may be at short notice in response to customer breakdowns or operational requirements.
Our customers rely on us to keep their businesses running, so flexibility, a willingness to travel when needed and a team-first attitude are essential.
Who We’re Looking For
Technical skills can be taught. Attitude can’t.
We’re looking for someone who:
· Has a genuine interest in engineering and enjoys understanding how things work.
· Enjoys solving problems rather than simply identifying them.
· Naturally looks for solutions, not excuses.
· Thinks, “What can I safely do to get this customer back up and running while we wait for the correct parts?”
· Takes ownership of problems and sees every job through to completion.
· Is reliable, honest and someone the team can depend on.
· Takes pride in producing work to a high standard, even when nobody is watching.
· Is willing to ask questions, learn from mistakes and continually improve.
· Is flexible and willing to travel when our customers need us.
· Wants to build a long-term career in refrigeration engineering.
Previous refrigeration experience isn’t essential.
Whether you’ve recently left college, completed an engineering course, worked in another engineering environment or simply have the right attitude and practical mindset, we’d like to hear from you.
A full UK driving licence is desirable and will become essential as you progress into the role.
Our Commitment to You
If you’re prepared to commit to becoming the best engineer you can be, we’ll make the same commitment to you.
You’ll receive:
· One-to-one mentoring from experienced engineers.
· A clear development pathway with regular performance and development reviews.
· Pay reviews based on your progress, performance and contribution.
· Industry training and ongoing professional development.
· Premium workwear, PPE, tools and equipment.
· The opportunity to work on a wide variety of refrigeration systems and technologies.
· Early responsibility and genuine opportunities to develop your skills.
· A long-term career within a growing business where progression is earned through attitude, ability and commitment.
You won’t be just another number here. You’ll work directly alongside experienced engineers and the leadership team, giving you the opportunity to learn faster, take on responsibility earlier and have a genuine impact on the future of the business.
We don’t expect you to know everything on day one.
We do expect you to turn up with the right attitude, work hard, ask questions, think for yourself and never stop learning.
Is This Role Right for You?
Refrigeration engineering isn’t always easy, but it’s incredibly rewarding.
Some days start early. Some finish late. You’ll work in busy food production environments, inside cold stores, on rooftops and occasionally away from home. You’ll be expected to think, adapt, solve problems and take ownership of your work.
If you’re looking for a job where you simply clock in and clock out, this probably isn’t the right role.
If you’re looking for a career where you’ll be challenged, supported and trusted to become an exceptional engineer, we’d love to hear from you.
Your Future Starts Here
We’re not looking for someone who’s already an engineer.
We’re looking for someone with the attitude, determination and curiosity to become one.
If you’re willing to work hard, take ownership, keep learning and always look for the best solution for the customer, we’ll give you every opportunity to build a career you can be proud of at Optimum Temperature Solutions.
