We are looking for an organised and confident Waste and Recycling Operations Coordinator / Weighbridge Operative to join our team in a busy skip-hire, waste-management, aggregates and scrap-metal yard.
This is a varied, fast-paced role requiring excellent communication, accuracy and organisational skills. You will help coordinate the daily skip-hire operation, operate the weighbridge and provide administrative support to customers, drivers and yard staff.
Key responsibilities
- Operating the weighbridge and accurately recording all incoming and outgoing vehicle weights
- Producing weighbridge tickets and checking all relevant waste documentation
- Recording and processing incoming and outgoing waste, aggregates and scrap-metal loads
- Ensuring waste descriptions, material types, vehicle details and customer information are recorded correctly
- Answering telephone calls and responding to customer enquiries
- Taking skip-hire bookings and processing customer orders
- Arranging skip deliveries, exchanges and collections
- Coordinating workloads with drivers and yard operatives
- Updating booking, transport and weighbridge systems accurately
- Preparing waste transfer notes and other required documentation
- Processing payments, invoices and customer account information
- Dealing with drivers, customers and suppliers professionally
- Maintaining accurate records and completing general office administration
- Following company procedures and supporting environmental compliance
- Assisting with the smooth daily running of the yard and office
The ideal candidate will have
- Previous experience in administration, customer service, weighbridge operation or transport coordination
- Experience within the waste-management, aggregates or scrap-metal industry would be highly beneficial
- Knowledge of waste transfer notes, material grading and weighbridge procedures would be an advantage
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a busy workload
- A confident and professional telephone manner
- Good computer and numerical skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- The ability to remain calm and work efficiently under pressure
- A reliable, flexible and proactive approach
- The ability to work well independently and as part of a team
Previous experience within skip hire, waste management, aggregates, scrap metal, transport or logistics is preferred. Additional training will be provided where required.
Working hours: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
Rate of pay: Dependant on experience
Employment type: Full-time with the option of Saturday morning overtime
