About the Team:
SRUC’s School of Natural and Social Sciences builds on long-established expertise in agriculture and animal science, supporting innovation and excellence across Scotland’s rural and natural economy.
Within this, the Agriculture Systems team delivers industry-focused education across Further and Higher Education programmes at the Barony campus. Working closely with sector partners, the team combines academic knowledge with practical experience to provide applied, student-centred learning through classroom teaching, farm-based activities, and employer engagement, supporting learners to progress into employment or further study.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join SRUC as a Lecturer in Agriculture contributing to high-quality teaching across Further and Higher Education programmes. Based at the Barony campus, you will deliver and assess a range of agriculture and animal husbandry modules, supporting learners from SVQ and NC through to HNC/HND and degree level.
You will bring strong subject expertise in agricultural systems and animal management, with the ability to teach across areas such as integrated farming systems and animal husbandry. The role includes delivering engaging teaching through lectures, tutorials, workshops, and practical sessions, supporting students to develop both theoretical knowledge and industry-relevant skills.
As part of a collaborative academic team, you will contribute to curriculum development, module leadership, quality enhancement, and student support, including honours dissertation supervision where appropriate. You will also engage with industry stakeholders and support recruitment and outreach activities, helping to ensure programmes remain relevant, innovative, and aligned with sector needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Higher National Diploma (HND) at SCQF Level 8 or a degree in a relevant subject area, or an equivalent qualification
