North Yorkshire Council's Adult Learning and Skills Service is looking for committed and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to provide high-quality support to adult learners across a range of learning programmes.
The roles are County Wide with bases at Skipton, Harrogate, Scarborough, Selby, Harrogate, Pickering and Northallerton.
About the service
The Adult Learning and Skills Service delivers learning to adults and communities across North Yorkshire, with a strong focus on inclusion, progression and high-quality outcomes. The service supports learners with a wide range of needs, including those facing barriers related to skills, confidence, wellbeing or additional learning needs. The role works as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support learners to engage successfully in education and achieve positive outcomes.
About the Role
Working closely with teachers and learner wellbeing colleagues, you will support learners with additional learning needs, disabilities, wellbeing needs, or other barriers to learning. Your role will help learners develop confidence, independence and the skills they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to learners.
- Support learners to engage, progress and achieve their learning goals.
- Adapt support strategies to meet individual learner needs.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to deliver inclusive learning experiences.
- Support learning in face-to-face, online and blended environments.
- Monitor learner progress and provide feedback to tutors and colleagues.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Promote learner wellbeing, safeguarding and positive outcomes.
Do you have:
- Experience of supporting learning in an education, training or community setting.
- Experience of working with adults or young people with additional support needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good literacy, numeracy and digital skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A commitment to inclusive practice and learner-centred support.
- A Level 2 qualification in English and Maths.
- The ability to travel across North Yorkshire as required.
