Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Dance teacher for our Saturday morning Performing Arts School. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dance, experience in all three disciplines, dance, drama and singing and a genuine enthusiasm for teaching and inspiring students of all ages. This role requires creativity, patience, and the ability to foster a positive learning environment that encourages students to express themselves through performing arts.
This role would suit professional performers looking for adhoc teaching work.
Duties
- Develop and deliver engaging lessons tailored to the skill levels of students.
- Teach various dance styles, ensuring proper techniques and safety measures are followed.
- Create lesson plans that incorporate warm-ups, and cool-downs and technique progressions.
- Provide constructive feedback to students to help them improve their skills.
- Organise and participate in recitals, performances, and competitions as needed.
- Maintain a positive and encouraging atmosphere in the studio.
- Collaborate with other teachers to enhance the overall curriculum and student experience.
- Keep up-to-date with trends and techniques to continually improve teaching methods.
Skills
- Strong proficiency in multiple dance styles (e.g., ballet, jazz, hip hop, contemporary).
- Excellent communication skills to effectively convey instructions and feedback.
- Ability to motivate and inspire students of varying ages and abilities.
- Strong organisational skills to manage class schedules and lesson plans.
- Patience and adaptability when working with diverse learning styles.
- A background in choreography is advantageous but not essential.
- First Aid certification is a plus.
