Passenger Fleet Supervisor
Hours: 36 Hours Per Week, Mon – Fri (Split shifts between 06:30–10:00 and 14:00–17:45, with flexibility up to 19:00. Standby cover may be required on weekends.)
Contract: 12-Week Temporary Contract (Start Date: 07 Sep 2026)
Location: London Borough of Barnet, Oakleigh Depot, N11 1HJ, with attendance also required at North London Business Park
Pay Rate: PAYE £20.98 per hour
About the Role
We're recruiting a Passenger Fleet Supervisor to support Council's Transport Services team. This is a full-time, short-term supervisory role ideal for someone experienced in transport operations, compliance, and staff management.
You'll oversee the day-to-day running of the Passenger Fleet Service, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective transport for service users.
What You'll Be Doing
- Supervising and supporting a team of 65 drivers and 1 Driver Team Leader
- Planning and optimising passenger transport routes for efficiency and value for money
- Monitoring contractor compliance and undertaking audits
- Assisting with financial performance monitoring, invoicing, and reporting
- Supporting recruitment, induction, and performance management of staff
- Ensuring vehicles are roadworthy, compliant with regulations, and fit for purpose
- Handling customer enquiries, complaints, and incident reporting
- Promoting health & safety compliance across the service
- Maintaining accurate records and operating transport IT systems (Chevin, Mission IT)
What We're Looking For
We're seeking someone organised, proactive, and confident in managing operational teams.
You'll ideally have:
- Experience in passenger transport supervision or fleet management
- Strong organisational and leadership skills
- Knowledge of compliance, health & safety, and HR procedures
- Good IT skills (Word, Excel, email, fleet systems)
- Effective communication skills for staff, contractors, and service users
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Enhanced DBS clearance
