Concrete Mixer Driver (HGV Class 2)
Location: [Thurrock] | Reports to: Transport Manager Rate: £16-22per hour / Hours: Typically 06:30–16:00, Mon–Fri with weekend work available
Purpose To safely deliver ready-mixed concrete from the batching plant to customer sites, discharging accurately and maintaining the vehicle to company and legal standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Load, transport and discharge ready-mixed concrete to customer sites on schedule
- Carry out daily walk-round and defect checks; report faults promptly
- Add water/admixtures only within authorised limits and record accordingly
- Wash out drum and chutes correctly, controlling washwater in line with environmental rules
- Complete delivery tickets, obtain signatures and manage POD paperwork
- Operate safely on live construction sites, following site rules and banksman direction
- Comply with drivers’ hours, WTD and tachograph regulations
Essential Requirements
- Full UK Category C (Class 2) licence — no more than 6 points, no DR/IN/DD endorsements
- Valid Driver CPC card and digital tachograph card
- Right to work in the UK
- Physically fit — role involves handling chutes and working outdoors in all weather
Desirable
- Previous ready-mix, tipper or muck-away experience
- CSCS card for site access
- Category C+E licence
Personal Qualities Reliable early starter, safety-conscious, good customer manner on site, comfortable working to tight delivery windows.
