About the Role
Compass Associates are proud to be working with a Specialist Neurological Care, Rehabilitation and Long-Term Care site who are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced Senior Speech & Language Therapist (Band 6) to join their highly collaborative, interdisciplinary therapy team.
Operating across two complementary specialist sites, you will work alongside another SALT and SALT assistant provide assessment, intervention, and management for individuals with complex neurological conditions.
Their patient population includes individuals recovering from stroke, acquired brain injury, and spinal cord injury, as well as those with prolonged disorders of consciousness, tracheostomies, and progressive neurological diseases.
This role offers a unique opportunity to manage a broad and varied caseload ranging from intensive, goal-orientated early rehabilitation to long-term quality-of-life management and palliative care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist assessment and tailored interventions for complex communication and dysphagia needs.
- Manage patients with tracheostomies and complex swallowing needs, contributing to multidisciplinary care planning.
- Supervise and support the clinical development of our Speech & Language Therapy Assistant.
- Deliver training and education to nursing and care teams to ensure consistency in dysphagia and communication management.
- Actively participate in shaping clinical pathways and leading quality improvement initiatives, including oral care projects.
About You
- HCPC registered Speech and Language Therapist
- Minimum 3–4 years’ post-qualification experience in neurological rehabilitation or long-term care.
- Advanced knowledge and practical expertise in dysphagia management.
- Experience with tracheostomy management is advantageous, though training can be provided for the right candidate.
- A compassionate, collaborative mindset with a strong passion for holistic, interdisciplinary working and long-term therapeutic relationships.
