Absolutely. Based on what you’re trying to attract, I’d position this clearly as a B2B/professional sales role, rather than simply calling it “sales”, and explicitly state that general retail/customer-service experience on its own would not normally meet the experience requirement.
I’d suggest a title such as Internal Sales Executive – Professional Cleaning Equipment. That gives you room for progression into field sales later without making the initial role sound administrative.
Internal Sales Executive – Professional Cleaning EquipmentAbout ECA Cleaning Ltd
ECA Cleaning Ltd specialises in the supply, service, repair and hire of professional and industrial cleaning equipment.
We work with commercial and industrial customers across a wide range of sectors and supply equipment from leading manufacturers including Kärcher, Kränzle and MAC International.
As our business continues to grow, we are looking for an ambitious and commercially minded Internal Sales Executiveto join our team.
This is a genuine professional sales position for someone who is comfortable working towards sales targets, developing customer relationships and identifying new business opportunities. It would particularly suit somebody who also has an interest in technical products, machinery or equipment.
For the right person, there is a clear opportunity to develop within the business and potentially progress into a Field Sales / Business Development role once they have built sufficient product and industry knowledge.
The Role
The Internal Sales Executive will be responsible for generating sales from both existing and prospective customers, developing commercial relationships and helping to grow the company's professional equipment sales.
This is not simply an order-processing or retail sales position.
The successful candidate will be expected to actively identify opportunities, follow up enquiries and quotations, contact customers, develop accounts and work towards agreed sales targets.
You will receive training on our product range and industry, but we are looking for someone who already understands the principles of professional sales and is comfortable being accountable for their own sales performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing commercial customers.
- Identify opportunities to increase sales within existing customer accounts.
- Proactively contact prospective customers and develop new business opportunities.
- Respond to incoming sales enquiries and establish the customer's requirements.
- Prepare quotations and follow them through to conclusion rather than simply issuing prices.
- Follow up outstanding quotations and sales opportunities in a structured manner.
- Recommend appropriate equipment and solutions based on the customer's application and requirements.
- Work towards individual and company sales targets.
- Maintain an active sales pipeline and keep accurate records of customer opportunities.
- Identify opportunities for additional products, accessories, servicing, repairs and related services.
- Develop a strong technical understanding of the equipment and products supplied by the company.
- Work closely with colleagues across sales, service, workshop and management.
- Build long-term commercial relationships rather than focusing solely on individual transactions.
- Assist with promotional campaigns, product demonstrations and customer events where required.
- Continually develop product, industry and competitor knowledge.

Important – The Type of Sales Experience We Are Looking For

Previous cleaning equipment experience is not essential.
However, our products are professional and often technical in nature. We therefore want somebody who is genuinely interested in understanding how equipment works and why one solution may be more appropriate than another.
You do not need to be an engineer, but you should enjoy learning about products, asking questions and developing enough technical knowledge to confidently advise customers.
An interest in machinery, vehicles, tools, engineering, pressure washers, cleaning equipment or similar products would therefore be particularly beneficial.

The successful candidate will receive training on:

This could involve managing a geographical sales area, visiting customers, carrying out product demonstrations, developing larger commercial accounts and generating new business.
We therefore see this position as an excellent opportunity for somebody who already has professional sales ability but wants to develop into a more technical and field-based sales career.
The Person
The person we are looking for is likely to be:
- Commercially minded.
- Target driven without being excessively aggressive.
- Confident and professional when speaking with customers.
- Naturally curious about products and applications.
- Comfortable picking up the telephone and creating opportunities.
- Persistent with follow-up.
- Organised and methodical.
- Motivated by achieving results.
- Interested in building a long-term career within a growing business.
- Able to work effectively as part of a small, supportive team.

- Builds a healthy pipeline of opportunities.
- Consistently follows up quotations.
- Converts enquiries into orders.
- Develops existing customer accounts.
- Generates new business.
- Achieves agreed sales targets.
- Develops strong technical product knowledge.
- Builds long-term relationships with customers.
- Demonstrates the ability and ambition to take on greater sales responsibility as the business grows.
