Senior Building Surveyor – Provide Technical Leadership and Drive Excellent Property Services
Are you an experienced Building Surveyor looking to take on a senior technical leadership role? As a Senior Building Surveyor at Peabody, you'll be a recognised subject matter expert, helping to deliver high-quality repairs and maintenance services while providing technical guidance across the wider Property Services team.
We currently have two Senior Building Surveyor opportunities available, covering North East London and South London. Both roles will play a critical part in delivering high-quality repairs, maintenance and technical surveying services across Peabody's housing portfolio.
Working closely with Building Surveyors, Property Services Managers, Asset Management and Building Safety teams, you'll lead on complex and challenging cases, improve technical standards and help ensure our residents live in safe, well-maintained homes.
What you'll do

Lead the delivery of complex, high-value and technically challenging repairs and maintenance projects

Provide expert advice on building defects, structural issues, damp, mould and moisture ingress

Act as the technical escalation point for Building Surveyors, Property Services Managers and operational teams

Undertake specialist investigations and surveys to determine root causes and recommend effective solutions

Prepare technical reports, specifications, schedules of work and recommendations for investment decisions

Mentor, coach and develop Building Surveyors, promoting best practice across the service

Manage contractors and consultants to ensure compliance, quality and value for money
-
Carry out quality assurance inspections and technical audits to drive continuous improvement

Collaborate with Asset Management, Compliance and Building Safety teams to support asset performance and regulatory compliance

Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards, including Awaab's Law, HHSRS, Building Regulations and the Decent Homes Standard
What you'll need
-
Extensive experience in building surveying, repairs and property maintenance within social housing or a comparable residential environment
-
Advanced knowledge of building construction, building pathology, defect diagnosis and repair methodologies

Significant experience diagnosing and managing damp, mould and moisture ingress cases
-
Experience managing complex and high-value repair and refurbishment projects from inception through to completion

Strong understanding of Schedule of Rates, methods of measurement, procurement and contract management

Experience undertaking specialist diagnostic investigations, including moisture profiling, thermal imaging and other building pathology techniques

Proven ability to provide technical leadership, mentoring and professional guidance to surveyors and operational teams

Strong contractor and stakeholder management skills

Excellent report writing, analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly to a range of audiences

Strong organisational and planning skills

Excellent IT skills and experience using surveying and property management systems
Qualifications
-
Degree in Building Surveying or a related discipline

MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) – Essential

Full UK Driving Licence (essential for the South London role only)

Interviews will be held in person on Wednesday 2nd September.
There is also an opportunity to participate in the Property Services Out of Hours rota, although this is optional and not a requirement of the role.
