Our innovations operate in some of the world’s most demanding environments. From the ocean floor to the edge of space, Steatite technology ensures critical systems perform reliably, consistently, and safely — 24/7. From day one, you will be part of an organisation that prioritises your safety and wellbeing, values your contribution, and is committed to making your career both rewarding and impactful.
Do you enjoy taking ownership of complex technical projects and seeing them through from concept to successful delivery?
As our business continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our team at Ashchurch and take responsibility for the end-to-end delivery of complex projects across our engineering and Defence business.
This is a permanent opportunity for an established Project Manager who wants more than simply managing a schedule. You'll take genuine ownership of your projects, bringing together customers, engineers, suppliers and internal teams to ensure we deliver against our commitments.
What you will be doing
Reporting to the PMO Manager, you'll manage your own portfolio of projects through the full project lifecycle.
You will:
-
Lead complex technical projects from initiation through to delivery and closure.
-
Take ownership of scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk and project performance.
-
Develop and maintain robust project plans, schedules, milestones and delivery roadmaps.
-
Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Commercial and Finance.
-
Build strong relationships with customers and act as a key point of contact throughout project delivery.
-
Manage risks, issues, dependencies and project changes, taking action before they impact delivery.
-
Manage third-party suppliers and subcontractors against agreed deliverables, milestones, budgets and timescales.
-
Maintain effective project governance, reporting and change control in accordance with our PMO framework.
-
Monitor project expenditure, forecasts and commercial milestones, including supporting milestone-based invoicing.
-
Apply project controls, including Earned Value Management where appropriate.
-
Support bids and commercial reviews, ensuring delivery assumptions, resources and risks are understood before commitments are made.
-
Lead project reviews and closure activities, capturing lessons learned and identifying opportunities to continually improve how we deliver projects.
What we are looking for
We are looking for someone who has already demonstrated that they can independently lead complex projects within a technical environment.
You will ideally bring:
-
Significant Project Management experience within Defence, Aerospace, engineering, manufacturing or another complex technical environment.
-
Proven experience managing projects through the full lifecycle, potentially across extended or multi-year timescales.
-
Strong knowledge of structured project governance and project controls.
-
Experience managing budgets, forecasts, schedules, risks, change and commercial deliverables.
-
The ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams within a matrix environment.
-
Experience managing third-party suppliers, subcontractors or delivery partners.
-
Strong customer and stakeholder-management skills, including working with senior stakeholders.
-
Confidence using Microsoft Project or similar project planning and control tools.
-
PRINCE2 Practitioner, APM qualification or equivalent practical project-management experience.
Experience within the UK Defence sector, technical manufacturing, engineering product development, Earned Value Management or bid support would be particularly advantageous.
Why join us?
This is an opportunity to join Steatite at an exciting point in our growth and play an important role in the delivery of sophisticated technology and engineering solutions.
You will have the opportunity to take genuine ownership of complex projects, work alongside highly experienced engineering and technical teams and contribute to the continued development of our project-management capability.
Our technology isn't ordinary and neither are the projects behind it.
If you are an experienced Project Manager who enjoys bringing structure to complexity, solving problems and taking accountability for delivery, we would love to hear from you.
