The Opportunity
We are looking for a Technical Designer who can take design ideas, architectural information and client briefs and develop them into accurate, buildable and beautifully resolved work.
This is an opportunity to take your design and technical skills to the next level by working much closer to how things are actually made.
This is a hands-on role sitting between creative design, engineering and manufacture.
At Diaxis, we design, manufacture and install bespoke staircases and architectural metalwork. You'll work across the complete technical design process — developing projects in 3D, resolving how they will be built, producing manufacturing information and working directly with the people who will ultimately make and install what you design.
We're looking for someone who is as interested in how something is made as they are in how it looks. Strong 3D ability, spatial awareness, technical curiosity and a maker/engineering mindset
Main Skills_
Excellent knowledge using 3D Rhino modelling and Auto Cad are essential.
Must-have at least 3 to 5 years' industry experience working in (Design & Build) CAD design/bespoke solutions and architecture discipline.
Familiar with metalwork fabrication /manufacturing processes
Other 3D Modeling experience are welcome such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360
The Role
What You'll Do
As Technical Designer, You will creatively and technically be working on all aspect of a projects from developing design concepts to delivering details drawing to convey information for design presentation through to in house manufacturing.
- Interpret architectural drawings and design intent specifications, sketches and client briefs.
- Develop concepts into accurate/ USING 3D Rhino CAD models
- Contribute towards design development and collaborate with the team by critically and constructively evaluating design solutions.
- You will take conceptual sketches and translate them into 3D & 2D to explore design and manufacturing feasibility.
- working closely with the design and manufacturing teams to Design with fabrication, assembly and installation in mind.
- Develop manufacturing-ready information, including DXFs and digital for CNC and workshop production where required.
- Coordinate design information with architects, designers, engineers, suppliers and project teams.
- Support projects through manufacture and delivery, taking increasing ownership of the technical design.
This is not simply a CAD drawing role. We want someone who can think through a design, identify problems, propose solutions and follow their work through into the finished physical object
The role calls for Independent self-starter and intelligent problem solver
What We're Looking For
You may come from CAD Design Engineer, technical design, industrial design, architectural modelmaking , engineering or another related design/manufacturing discipline joinery, fabrication, furniture
Your exact route into design matters less than your ability to combine creative thinking with technical understanding.
Ideally, you will have experience with:
· Strong 3D capability_ confident working independently with complex geometry and design
· Strong spatial awareness _ Ability to visualise 3D Geometry and spaces from a 2D GA
· 2D technical understanding — Experience in interpreting Architectural drawings _able to read and develop architectural plans, elevations, sections and details;
Technical skills and manufacturing knowledge in Architectural Metalwork will be a bonus.
Ultimately, we're looking for a designer with a designer's eye and a maker's mindset — someone comfortable working within architecture, but equally interested in how things are engineered, manufactured and built.
Coupled with excellent industry awareness – good people and relationship skills and time management skills with the ability to work with the team or be self-sufficient.

Competitive salary, £40,000 to £45,000 (depending on experience)
Full-time, permanent, PAYE position
40 hours a week, Monday to Friday, between 8am-5pm
