About the role
Balfour Beatty Asset & Technology Solutions is looking for a skilled and motivated Mobile HGV Technician to join our Fleet team. This role is UK wide travel mainly operating throughout Buckinghamshire, Derby, Warwickshire, and North M25.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HGV professional who takes pride in delivering high-quality maintenance and repair work while ensuring vehicles remain safe, compliant, and operational. Working as part of a dedicated fleet team, you will play a key role in maintaining a range of HGVs and specialist vehicles, helping to minimise downtime and maximise productivity.

What you'll be doing
- Carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs and specialist vehicles.
- Diagnosing faults and identifying effective repair solutions using diagnostic equipment.
- Ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
- Minimising vehicle downtime and supporting fleet availability.
- Completing inspections and maintenance activities in line with legal and company requirements.
- Accurately recording service, inspection and maintenance documentation.
- Supporting MOT preparation and helping to achieve high first-time pass rates.
- Following all health, safety, environmental and quality procedures.
- Delivering excellent customer service and maintaining positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Contributing to a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork and operational excellence.
Who we're looking for
We are looking for someone with a strong technical background in HGV maintenance and repair, who can work independently while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and customer service.
You'll ideally have:
- A City & Guilds qualification in HGV maintenance, vehicle engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience maintaining and repairing HGVs and commercial vehicles.
- A valid HGV Driving Licence.
- Experience using vehicle diagnostic equipment.
- Good understanding of HGV MOT requirements and relevant legislation.
- Knowledge of health and safety practices within a workshop or mobile maintenance environment.
- Basic IT skills and the ability to complete maintenance records accurately.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and fault-finding.
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
Desirable experience includes:
- IRTEC accreditation.
- Knowledge of winter maintenance operations.
