Overview
We are looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Registered Manager for our children’s home based in Harrow.
The home is registered for under the age of 18 and is based in a seven-bedroom property. We are seeking a strong candidate with significant experience in children’s residential care, ideally someone who has previously held an Ofsted Registered Manager position.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management of the home, ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding, compliance, staff leadership, and positive outcomes for children.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day running of the children’s home in line with Ofsted requirements, Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, safeguarding policies, and internal procedures.
- Provide strong leadership to the staff team, including supervision, support, rota management, performance management, and team development.
- Ensure the home provides a safe, caring, and supportive environment for children.
- Monitor quality standards through audits, resident feedback, and incident investigations to uphold high levels of safety and satisfaction.
- Maintain high standards of care and ensure that children’s individual needs are met through effective care planning, risk assessments, and placement matching.
- Prepare for and manage Ofsted inspections, ensuring the home remains compliant free and inspection-ready at all times.
- Promote safeguarding, safer recruitment, and best practice across the home.
- Ensure all records, reports, policies, and compliance documentation are accurate, up to date, and maintained to a high standard.
- Support and develop staff to deliver consistent, high-quality care to children.
- Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements and organisational policies.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures of Ofsted.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in children’s residential care management, as a Registered Manager.
- Previous Ofsted Registered Manager experience is mandatory.
- Experience working in children’s homes supporting regular children, with EBD and/or learning disabilities.
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or currently working towards this qualification.
- Strong knowledge of Ofsted requirements, Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, safeguarding, safer recruitment, and compliance.
- Experience with referrals, placement matching, risk assessments, and care plans.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and supervise staff while maintaining high standards of care.
- Ability to prepare for and manage Ofsted inspections.
- Strong communication, organisation, leadership, and decision-making skills.
- Enhanced DBS, right to work in the UK, and satisfactory references are required.
