Job Summary
We are seeking an Estates & Maintenance Handyperson to perform a variety of maintenance and repair tasks across our site.
Duties
- Complete basic repairs: minor plumbing (leaks, clogs), electrical (bulb changes, outlet covers), carpentry (doors, locks, shelving), and painting/patching.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on building systems per schedules; log all work performed.
- Maintain cleanliness standards as required: may include, but not limited to rubbish/recycling removal,
- Event setup/breakdown.
- Assist where required in maintaining grounds.
- Support safety and compliance: secure buildings, respond to alarms, follow COSHH and school safety protocols.
- Set up and relocate furniture/equipment for classes, events, and testing; receive and move deliveries.
- Provide timely response to urgent maintenance requests during school hours and out of hours if required
Qualifications
- Experience of maintenance or facilities experience in schools or similar settings preferred.
- Basic knowledge of one or more of the main trades - plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting.
- Ability to read and follow work orders, safety procedures, and equipment manuals.
- Physically fit, climb ladders, stand/walk for extended periods, and work indoors/outdoors in varying conditions.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record (if operating school vehicles).

- Customer-service mindset with pupils, staff, and visitors.
- Problem-solving skills; ability to prioritise and work independently or as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills for work orders, email, and maintenance logs.
Pay: £25,750.00 per year
