We are seeking an experienced Investigating Support Officer to provide essential support to the investigation of serious and complex criminal offences. The successful candidate will work closely with Senior Investigating Officers (SIOs), progressing enquiries, gathering and reviewing evidence, and supporting the recovery and management of evidential material.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced investigation professional with
PIP2 and HOLMES experience to support serious and complex criminal investigations within a busy investigative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Work as part of an investigation team, gathering, reviewing and presenting evidence to support complex investigations.
- Conduct and coordinate house-to-house and CCTV enquiries, including the capture, seizure and management of CCTV evidence.
- Obtain accurate and concise statements and evidence from victims and witnesses in accordance with relevant legislation and procedures.
- Manage exhibits, including submission, transportation, movement tracking, forensic testing and preparation for court.
- Support disclosure activity in line with CPIA requirements, including reviewing material and assisting with disclosure to the CPS and defence where appropriate.
- Review information from CCTV, house-to-house enquiries, digital downloads and third-party sources.
- Assist with investigation research, file preparation and submissions to the Crown Prosecution Service.
- Use relevant force systems, including NICHE and HOLMES, and maintain accurate records relating to disclosure and exhibits.
- Assist with suspect and witness interviews where appropriately trained and accredited.
- Attend court and provide verbal evidence when required, while liaising with the SIO and CPS.
Essential Experience
- PIP Level 1 trained, or demonstrable previous investigative experience; PIP Level 2 preferred.
- Experience of investigating crime/offending behaviour, or working within law enforcement or the criminal justice environment.
- Practical experience using HOLMES and relevant investigation systems.
- Experience handling sensitive material professionally, ethically and confidentially.
- Strong understanding of evidential processes, disclosure and relevant legislation.
- Ability to work to challenging deadlines, prioritise competing demands and perform effectively under pressure.
