Job Purpose
The Showroom Assistant plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the dealership. This position ensures the showroom and forecourt are presented to a high standard, assists with administrative duties, coordinates vehicle movements, and helps manage the preparation of vehicles for sale. The ideal candidate is organised, reliable, proactive, and takes pride in maintaining a professional environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesVehicle Presentation
- Ensure all showroom and forecourt vehicles are clean, presentable, and displayed to dealership standards.
- Regularly inspect vehicles for cleanliness, fuel levels, tyre condition, and overall appearance.
- Arrange vehicle positioning to maintain an attractive and organised display.
- Report any damage or issues identified with vehicles.
Vehicle Preparation Coordination
- Keep accurate records of vehicle preparation requirements.
- Monitor the progress of vehicle valeting, servicing, MOTs, repairs, and cosmetic work.
- Liaise with the workshop, valeting team, and external suppliers to ensure vehicles are sale-ready within agreed timescales.
- Update management on the status of vehicle preparation and highlight any delays.
Vehicle Collection and Delivery
- Collect and deliver vehicles between customers, suppliers, workshops, and other dealership locations.
- Ensure vehicles are transported safely and professionally.
- Complete vehicle handover documentation where required.
- Maintain high standards of customer service during collections and deliveries.
Administrative Support
- Assist with general office administration.
- Maintain accurate vehicle records and documentation.
- Support the sales team with paperwork and filing.
- Prepare vehicle files and ensure required documentation is complete.
- Assist with stock checks and inventory records.
- Answer telephone calls and direct enquiries as required.
General Dealership Duties
- Ensure the showroom, customer areas, and forecourt remain tidy and welcoming.
- Assist with vehicle arrivals and stock management.
- Support the sales and management teams with daily operational tasks.
- Comply with all dealership health and safety policies and procedures.
Skills and Experience
- Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload.
- Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
- A proactive and flexible approach to work.
- Previous experience in a motor trade or dealership environment is desirable but not essential.
Qualifications
- Full, clean UK driving licence (essential).
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths are desirable.
