Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and organised Activities Co-ordinator to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in a care home specialising in senior care. The successful candidate will play a vital role in enhancing residents’ quality of life through tailored programmes that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall wellbeing. Previous experience in assisted living, nursing home environments, or dementia care is highly desirable. Responsibilities
- Planning, organising, and leading a variety of activities tailored to residents’ interests and needs, including arts and crafts, music sessions, games, and outings
- Supporting residents with dementia, mental health and challenging behaviour to participate comfortably and confidently in activities
- Collaborating with care staff to ensure activities align with individual care plans and promote residents’ physical and mental wellbeing
- Encouraging social interaction among residents to foster a sense of community and belonging
- Monitoring residents’ responses to activities and adjusting programmes as necessary to maximise engagement
- Maintaining activity supplies and organising resources efficiently
- Documenting participation and providing feedback to the care team regarding residents’ progress and preferences
Requirements
- Experience working within assisted living or nursing home environments, particularly with senior or dementia care
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia-related conditions, including specialised activity techniques such as Alzheimer’s care strategies
- Strong communication skills with the ability to connect effectively with residents of varying cognitive abilities
- Demonstrated organisational skills to plan diverse activity schedules and manage resources efficiently
- Compassionate nature with a genuine interest in enhancing the lives of older adults
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Relevant caregiving or senior care qualifications are advantageous but not essential; enthusiasm for learning is important
