Purpose of the Role
As Restaurant Supervisor, you will lead by example to deliver exceptional guest experiences while ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the pub. You'll motivate the team, maintain consistently high standards, and help drive sales and profitability in a premium country pub environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesGuest Experience
- Deliver warm, genuine and professional customer service at all times.
- Lead the team in creating memorable guest experiences.
- Resolve customer queries and complaints confidently and professionally.
- Ensure every guest leaves wanting to return.
Team Leadership
- Lead shifts effectively and confidently.
- Support the training, coaching and development of team members.
- Motivate staff to achieve high standards and sales targets.
- Conduct pre-shift briefings and communicate daily objectives.
- Promote a positive, supportive team culture.
Operations
- Open and close the pub in line with company procedures.
- Ensure all areas are clean, organised and presented to premium standards.
- Monitor service throughout the day and allocate staff effectively.
- Manage bookings and coordinate large tables and events.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, licensing and health & safety legislation.
Food & Beverage
- Maintain excellent knowledge of menus, wines, beers and cocktails.
- Drive food and drink sales through confident recommendations and upselling.
- Ensure food and drinks are served accurately and efficiently.
- Monitor quality and presentation standards.
Stock & Cash Control
- Assist with stock counts and stock rotation.
- Minimise wastage and report discrepancies.
- Handle cashing up procedures accurately.
- Support ordering and stock management where required.
Standards & Compliance
- Ensure food hygiene standards are maintained at all times.
- Follow all licensing regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness throughout front and back of house.
- Ensure equipment is used safely and correctly.
What We're Looking ForEssential
- Previous experience in a supervisory role within hospitality.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Passion for hospitality and excellent customer service.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Good organisational skills.
- Personal Licence desirable (or willingness to obtain one).
- Flexible to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
Desirable
- Experience in a premium pub or restaurant.
- Knowledge of cask ales, premium beers, wines and cocktails.
- First Aid qualification.
- Food Safety Level 2 or above.
