Job Roles and Responsibilities
Therapeutic parent:
- Be a safe, supportive and caring support and mentor for the children in your care.
- Establish a positive and trusting relationship with children.
- Support children to participate in activities and maintain relationships with others.
- Encourage children to explore their dreams and goals.
- Listen to children's views wishes and feelings at all times.
- Promote positive achievement for children and your team members.
- Help children to develop skills and overcome challenges.
- Keep our home's clean, tidy, safe and fulfill a parental role for children living in the home showing love, positive regard and demonstrating positive parenting skills.
- Work well with your team to ensure consistency and good communication.
- Serve as a role model and demonstrate positive behaviors and attitudes.
- Follow company policies and procedures and the code of conduct.
- Safeguard the children in your care at all times and undertake all relevant development and training related to safeguarding.
You will have the following attributes and abilities:
- Be welcoming, caring, nurturing, fun, inspiring, fair, kind, clear, consistent, a champion for children and their rights, help children learn and take responsibility.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Active listening skills to understand the needs and concerns of children.

Senior therapeutic parent:
- As above, plus....
- You must hold a Level 3 Diploma in Children's Residential care and have experience working in the sector.
- You will be responsible for leading your team when on shift, ensuring that the home is functioning in line with regulations and liaising with the management team to ensure best practice.
