Living Wall Installation Technician, Landscaper
Salary £30,000 to £38,000 + Overtime and Benefits
Site Based. Mainly Greater London
Permanent
You will be part of a successful team in this industry leading specialist Landscaper with responsibility for the installation of the company’s Living Walls and Urban Green Installations at some of the most prestigious sites in London and across the UK and Europe. This role will benefit from ongoing training and is a fantastic opportunity to develop a career in this massively expanding sector. It would suit a Landscaper with experience of high-end residential garden construction.
The Company:
Our client is a leading installer of Green / Living Walls and green solutions for urban environments. They have won many awards for their innovative installations and currently employ staff in their head office, nursery and in the field, operating from a fleet of vehicles servicing projects across the UK.
The Job:
Living Walls are comprised of a grid or frame of timber or profiled aluminium “studs”. This frame is secured to the outside of a building and a sheet of fabric with planting pockets is attached. A microbore drip irrigation line is installed across the top of each horizontal stud to feed and water the plants at each level. These irrigation lines are routed back to a control box containing the supply tanks, pumps, solenoid values and the main controller. The whole is effectively a stud wall covered with fabric plant pots. As an Installer you will take the design drawings construct the frame on site, affix it to the building façade, instal the irrigation system and plant it up in accordance with the design diagram. You will be working from a team vehicle with an experienced Supervisor and all of your travel will be covered.
The Person:
Surprisingly, Installers need little horticultural or plant knowledge as the planting is precisely detailed on a design diagram. Very much more useful is the ability to read construction drawings, coupled with practical carpentry, joinery and fabrication skills in a construction environment. A knowledge of basic plumbing or irrigation is also useful. Experience as a high-end residential Landscaper would be relevant and useful. The work is often carried out at height and experience in using access equipment and holding IPAF and PASMA tickets is very useful. We are looking for an individual who has the capability to progress and take responsibility for their own projects within a short period.
Benefits:
Salary to £38,000 (with relevant experience) plus Travel, Generous Overtime, Working Away Allowance and Benefits. It is planned to introduce a Bonus scheme
