About the Person You’ll Be Supporting
We are seeking a kind and reliable individual with a calm and caring nature to support a bright, cheerful and engaging gentleman who is young at heart and in his late thirties.
He has a physical disability that affects bone strength and uses a specialist wheelchair and adapted vehicle to maintain his independence and enjoy his everyday lifestyle.
He lives with his mother in a safe, quiet home environment and takes pride in his personal presentation and in keeping his surroundings and adapted vehicle well maintained.
The successful candidate will have a warm, approachable and professional manner, with a calm and smart-casual approach appropriate to the role.
About the Role
The role involves providing one-to-one support to the service user, accompanying and driving him on community outings, and transporting him to occasional medical appointments.
Key Responsibilities & Personal Care
- Driving an adapted automatic vehicle
- Providing light personal care, including Bathing, dressing and assistance with a urinal bottle.
- Supporting with minimal, straightforward transfers
- Supporting daily routines, activities, and outings
- Transporting him to occasional medical appointments
- Assisting with light household tasks and general errands
Activities May Include
- Scenic drives and trips to the seaside
- Café visits, home garden centres, and local attractions
- Park walks and community activities
- Seasonal events, and family entertainment shows
Driving Requirements
A full UK driving licence with a clean driving record required.
You must be a confident driver and comfortable driving on motorways.
Full insurance is provided for driving the adapted vehicle during working hours.
Choose Your Fixed Schedule
Schedule 1) – 60 hours over each four-week cycle (15 hours per week)
- Wednesdays: 09:00-15:00 - every week (6 hours)
- Fridays: 09:00-15:00 - every week (6 hours)
- Sundays: 10:00-16:00 - alternate weeks (6 hours)
Schedule 2) - 72 hours over each four-week cycle (18 hours per week)
- Wednesdays: 09:00-16:00 - every week (7 hours)
- Fridays: 09:00-16:00 - every week (7 hours)
- Sundays: 10:00-17:00 - alternate weeks (7 hours)
Start and finish times can be discussed where possible, provided his support needs are fully met.
Later Sunday afternoon shifts are also available.
The Person We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who is:
- Kind, patient, respectful and dependable
- Punctual, reliable and flexible
- Organised, proactive and able to use their own initiative
- Comfortable providing personal care
- Confident driving on motorways
- Looking for a consistent, long-term role with predictable hours
Previous care experience is welcome but not essential, as full training will be provided. We value a positive attitude, reliability and a genuine willingness to learn.

Employment Requirements
Employment is subject to satisfactory references, an enhanced DBS check and possession of a full UK driving licence.
The cost of the DBS check will be covered.
Location Requirement
Applicants should ideally live within approximately 12 miles or 25 minutes travel of Accrington.
