Who we are
We're primarily a distributor of components of renewable energy systems - from solar panels to batteries and heat pumps.
Midsummer is one of the UK’s leading distributors of renewable energy systems, providing solar and heat products to thousands of installers across the UK. We are also proud creators of two cutting-edge design software systems, Easy PV for designing PV systems, and Heatpunk for designing heat pump systems.Midsummer hasn’t always looked this way. We have evolved significantly since our MD founded Midsummer from his houseboat in 2005 with a focus on offgrid PV systems. As the UK solar industry has evolved, Midsummer also began supplying and installing larger grid-connected PV systems, before focusing on distribution and software design. We have grown rapidly in recent years but our values have remained the same. We are fundamentally driven by a desire to make a positive impact in the world. This care for the environment has shaped the identity and culture of Midsummer since day one, and continues to unite our growing team and drive us to be the best at what we do.Midsummer is listed (No.32) in ‘Cambridgeshire's Top 100 companies’ in 2023.About the role
Our Operations, Logistics and Customer Support Specialists work in a fast-paced, varied environment, using logistical expertise, business knowledge and problem-solving skills to deliver high-quality advice and resolutions to customers and courier partners. This critical role sits between multiple internal and external stakeholders, requiring you to be dynamic, quick-thinking, and able to multitask, prioritise, and work well under pressure.
Midsummer strives to be the best at what we do and to always deliver top-level service, this role is central to that. To do it well, we must anticipate and prevent problems, avoid over-promising and under-delivering, and ensure communication with customers is clear, consistent and honest.
This is a full time role at our warehouse at Coldham's Business Park Cambridge, with the potential to move to a new site in the future.
Who we're looking for
If you like variety and enjoy a challenge, this fast-paced role could be for you.
You'll work as part of the wider Midsummer team, helping keep things efficient and accurate for our customers, with a timely and professional approach in everything you do. You've got excellent communication skills, a polite and efficient manner, and a keen eye for detail when recording errors and damages. You're a practical problem-solver who's just as happy being proactive as reactive, and you thrive in a role that's never dull. With a friendly, easy-going manner and a taste for a dynamic work environment, you're always ready to pitch in wherever needed and help the company grow. As part of the role you will:
- Handle customer enquiries by phone and email, including order ETAs, proof of delivery, missing or incorrect items, and delivery access or address queries — responding promptly and professionally.
- Liaise with couriers and warehouses (by phone, email, Slack, and in person) to resolve delivery issues, arrange re-deliveries, and confirm site access or offloading capability.
- Manage re-delivery and account queries, including explaining charges, adding or removing charges from accounts, and requesting credit notes for missing items.
- Arrange replacements and collections when a Midsummer or courier error is confirmed, gathering photo evidence and passing all necessary details to Operations.
- Keep clear records of customer interactions and errors (courier, customer, and warehouse), ensuring Sales and Operations stay informed and service runs smoothly.
Degree level qualifications in any subject are helpful and welcome, but not essential. If you have qualifications or 2+ years experience in logistics or operations roles, we would also welcome your application.
Bonus points if you have experience in operations, customer service, retail, or warehouse work, but it is far from essential, and recent graduates who want to begin a career in renewables would equally be welcome to apply.
