Wraparound Care Manager – Primary School
Location: Southwark
Pay: £18.00 per hour
Hours: Monday–Friday, during term time
Morning: 7:45am–9:00am
Afternoon: 2:30pm–6:00pm
About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and experienced Wraparound Care Manager to join a lovely primary school in Albion, London.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has experience working in wraparound care, breakfast clubs, after-school clubs, holiday clubs, or similar childcare settings, and who enjoys creating a fun, safe and engaging environment for children.
The successful candidate will be confident supporting the day-to-day running of the provision, leading activities and games, supervising staff and ensuring children receive high-quality care before and after school.
What you'll be doing
- Supporting the smooth running of the breakfast and after-school provision.
- Helping to lead and supervise a team of wraparound care staff.
- Creating a welcoming, positive and inclusive environment for children.
- Planning and setting up a range of fun, age-appropriate activities, games, arts and crafts, sports and creative activities.
- Encouraging children to participate and ensuring activities are suitable for different ages and abilities.
- Supervising children throughout the sessions and maintaining high standards of behaviour and engagement.
- Supporting the team with setting up and clearing away activities, equipment and the care environment.
- Ensuring children are safely handed over to parents/carers and following the school's collection procedures.
- Maintaining accurate registers and ensuring children are accounted for at all times.
- Following school and wraparound care policies and procedures.
- Promoting safeguarding and children's welfare at all times.
- Communicating effectively with parents, carers, school staff and the wider wraparound team.
- Supporting the manager with the organisation and day-to-day administration of the provision.
- Taking responsibility for the setting when required and confidently making decisions to ensure the smooth running of the session.
- Supporting staff, providing guidance and helping to maintain a positive team culture.
- Dealing confidently and professionally with any issues that may arise during the sessions.
We're looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience working in wraparound care, an after-school/breakfast club, holiday club, school, nursery or another childcare setting.
- Previous experience of leading or supervising a team.
- Experience as a Deputy Manager, Manager, Senior Playworker, Team Leader or similar would be highly desirable.
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- Confidence managing children's behaviour in a positive and appropriate way.
- The ability to organise and lead activities, games and structured play.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A calm, confident and professional approach.
- The ability to take initiative and work independently when required.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks.
- A genuine passion for working with children and creating a fun, safe environment.
- The confidence to support and manage other members of staff.
- A reliable and responsible approach, with excellent punctuality and attendance.
The ideal candidate
We're particularly interested in someone who is hands-on, energetic and confident, with genuine experience of working in a busy childcare or club environment.
You should be comfortable taking the lead, organising activities, supporting staff and ensuring the provision runs safely and smoothly. You will need to be someone who can build positive relationships with children while also being confident enough to manage behaviour, communicate with parents and take responsibility when needed.
Previous management or deputy management experience is important, as this role will involve supporting the team and taking a leadership role within the wraparound provision.
