Proof Social Bakehouse Kennington (Part time)
Must be able to commute to Kennington OX1 5RP and must be available at weekends
We are looking for a fun & friendly cafe staff member to join our front of house team at Proof Bakehouse as a Barista. Proof is an artisan sourdough bakery and cafe as well as a social enterprise employing people in prison. We open to the public from Wednesday to Sunday, 8am-4pm, and have a very busy and bustling cafe full of lovely guests. We're looking for someone who loves hospitality (and ideally coffee and baked goods!) to join our team of friendly, fun, and hardworking baristas and counter staff.
Experience required: at least six months in a similar role and barista training/experience strongly preferred.
Main responsibilities:
Assisting the cafe manager in the day to day running of the cafe
Preparing high quality specialty drinks
Preparing bakery displays ready for opening times
Assisting the manager in maintaining required records for stock, orders, food diaries, waste, fridge/freezer temperatures, and food temperature checks
Ensuring all areas are kept clean and tidy throughout the operating hours
Weekly grinder cleaning and equipment trouble shooting
Greeting and welcoming customers and providing excellent customer service
Taking orders and putting them through the till
Tap Social and Proof Bakehouse work closely with several prisons whose staff and inmates have shaped our direction and ethos. We hire people currently serving and recently released from prison sentences and support them to develop new skills, learn about setting up and running small businesses and get real work experience in an engaging and fast-growing industry.
