Senior Science Technician - Join a Thriving Secondary School
GoTeach Education Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Senior Science Technician to join a successful mainstream secondary school in the NG10 area.
This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and knowledgeable Science Technician looking to take the next step in their career by leading a team and supporting the delivery of high-quality practical science across KS3, KS4 and KS5.
Working closely with the Head of Science, you will play a key role in ensuring practical lessons run smoothly, safely and efficiently.
The Role
As Senior Science Technician, you will:
- Lead and support a team of Science Technicians.
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the science preparation rooms.
- Prepare equipment, chemicals and resources for practical lessons.
- Ensure laboratories, prep rooms and stores are maintained to a high standard.
- Monitor and maintain stock levels, placing orders where required.
- Carry out health and safety checks and ensure compliance with current legislation.
- Support teachers with practical demonstrations and lesson preparation.
- Prepare specialist resources for GCSE and A Level practical work.
- Conduct risk assessments and promote safe working practices.
- Assist with departmental administration, budgeting and resource management.
- Keep accurate records of equipment, chemicals and purchases.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience as a Science Technician.
- Experience working within a secondary school or educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory equipment, chemicals and practical science.
- A good understanding of laboratory health and safety procedures.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- The ability to prioritise a busy workload.
- Experience leading or supervising others would be advantageous.
- Confidence working independently and as part of a wider team.
