We are looking for an experienced project manager to lead the delivery of complex construction and infrastructure projects that are integral to the Council’s wider development programme for the city.
Working within Major Developments, the postholder will oversee projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within approved budgets and in line with relevant legislation, Council procedures and agreed quality and commercial objectives.
You will lead procurement and contract management activity for consultants and contractors, act as client contract manager, and work closely with internal services, external stakeholders, funders and delivery partners. A strong understanding of project management, construction contracts including NEC and JCT, infrastructure delivery, stakeholder engagement and financial management will be essential.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Experience of developing, leading and managing effective teams (internally and with external partners), setting clear objectives, providing constructive feedback and acting as a role model.
- Extensive experience of delivering high value, complex construction and engineering projects from inception to completion, which support the delivery of development and place-making.
- Experience of successful partnership working with a wide range of stakeholders, including contractors, professionals, government organisations, funders and internal stakeholders including Elected Members.
- Ability to demonstrate high levels of confidentiality, tact and diplomacy.
- Experience of financial management, including management of external grant funding and associated reporting.
- Ability to prioritise own workloads and work under pressure to ensure that both deadlines are met and high standards maintained.
- Degree level qualification (or equivalent experience) in development, construction, engineering or related discipline.
