Due to rapid growth the McDermott Group are looking for an experienced Senior Accounts Assistant to support the finance team to work across the multiple companies within the group, including their Automotive division.
This role requires the successful candidate to have strong accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to manage financial processes efficiently in a fast-paced, multi-company environment.

Overview of the Role

- £29,000.00 - £31,000.00 DOE
- Holidays: 30 days. Additional days per year of service, maximum of 5. Buy back scheme of additional 5 days

Responsibilities:
- Ensure all company policies and procedures are adhered too
- Oversee accounts payable & receivable, ensuring timely processing across multiple businesses
- Prepare and review bank reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and VAT returns
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliation in line with month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals and prepayments
- Assisting with the preparation of management accounts and processing of journal entries, including accruals and prepayments
- Maintain financial records, assist with audits, and liaise with external accountants
- Create and maintain accounting procedures with a focus on efficiency and continuous improvement
- Work closely with management to improve financial reporting and processes
- Provide mentorship to junior finance team members.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience in an accounting/finance role, ideally within a multi-company or automotive environment
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, reconciliations, VAT, and financial reporting
- Proficiency in accounting software (experience with Sage 200 would be advantageous but not essential) and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- AAT qualification (Level 3/4) or equivalent; working towards ACCA/CIMA is a plus
- Must have IDLR/Full Rights to Work in UK - Sponsorship or Work Permits will not be accepted/ provided.
