Join the Team at Tramways Medical Centre
We're looking for a friendly, organised and patient-focused Receptionist to join our welcoming GP practice in Hillsborough.
As the first point of contact for our patients, you'll play an important role in providing a welcoming, professional and efficient service while helping patients access the support they need. You will work closely with the wider practice team and contribute to the smooth running of our busy practice.
Previous experience working in General Practice or the NHS is welcomed but not essential. If you have excellent customer service skills, enjoy working with people and are keen to learn, we'd love to hear from you. Full training and support will be provided.
About the Role
As part of our Reception Team, you'll help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the practice by:
- Welcoming patients and visitors, providing support and responding to enquiries in person, by telephone and through digital platforms.
- Booking, changing and cancelling appointments.
- Processing prescription requests and directing enquiries appropriately.
- Using practice systems, including SystmOne and AccuRx (training provided where required).
- Maintaining accurate patient records and handling confidential information responsibly.
- Processing incoming correspondence, forms and patient samples in line with practice procedures.
- Working closely with GPs, nurses and the wider practice team to ensure patients receive the support they need.
This role includes participation in a Saturday morning rota. The practice opens one Saturday each month, with reception cover shared across the team (currently approximately one Saturday every eight months).

- Enjoys helping people and making a positive difference to their experience.
- Remains calm, professional and compassionate, even in busy or challenging situations.
- Is confident using computer systems and has good IT skills.
- Understands the importance of confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately.
- Works well both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable:
- Experience working in a GP practice, the NHS or another healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of primary care services.
- Experience using SystmOne.
