We are seeking a Youth Support Worker to join our team in the Ilford area. Based in the local community, you will play a vital role in motivating and guiding young people through education, apprenticeships, and employment pathways, helping them develop essential life skills aligned with our mission of fostering independence.
Working Hours
Full-time, shift-based role on a rolling rota (Mon–Sun)
- Day shifts: 8:00am – 8:30pm
- Waking Night shifts: 8:00pm – 8:30am
Essential
- Minimum 1 year’s experience working with young people (ages 8–17) in a care, support, youth work, or education setting
- Proven ability to engage, support, and build positive relationships.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to advocate for young people and support their emotional and behavioural development
- Reliable, professional, and committed to safeguarding practices
Desirable
- Experience in residential care with young people or adolescents
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Understanding of challenging behaviour, trauma-informed care, or youth development
- Experience with Ofsted
Key Responsibilities
- Support young people with daily routines, independence, and personal development
- Build trusting, professional relationships, acting as a positive role model
- Promote education, life skills, and positive behaviour
- Work collaboratively with social workers, families, and other professionals
- Contribute to care plans, risk assessments, and individual development goals
- Maintain a safe, clean, and structured home environment
- Complete accurate records and reports
- Make informed decisions to safeguard and support.
- Work as part of a team delivering consistent, high-quality care focused on young person's needs
