Job Title: Interim Finance Accountant (3 Month Fixed Term Contract)

Our Group Finance team are looking for an Interim Financial Accountant to join them on a 3–4 month fixed-term contract during an exciting period of transition. In this role, you'll take ownership of key financial accounting processes, support year-end reporting and external audit activities, and help ensure our finance operations continue to run smoothly while we recruit a permanent Group Accountant.
What you'll be doing:
- Taking ownership of the Group's monthly VAT returns, ensuring accurate and timely submission.
- Managing the annual PAYE Settlement Agreement (PSA) process and completing Office for National Statistics (ONS) reporting.
- Supporting month-end close activities, including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assisting with year-end financial reporting and preparing audit schedules, statutory accounts working papers and supporting documentation.
- Liaising with external auditors and responding to audit queries in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements, statutory reporting deadlines and internal financial controls.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance finance processes and reporting.
Providing flexible support across the wider Group Finance team during peak workload periods and other ad hoc financial reporting activities.

What you'll bring:
- Part-qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA , or be Qualified by Experience (QBE) .
- Previous experience in a Financial Accountant, Group Accountant or Management Accountant role.
- Strong knowledge of VAT legislation, compliance and statutory reporting requirements.
- Experience preparing balance sheet reconciliations and supporting month-end activities.
- Experience supporting year-end processes and working with external auditors.
- A sound understanding of financial controls and accounting principles.
- Strong Excel skills and experience using ERP or accounting systems (experience with Microsoft Dynamics or M3 would be advantageous).
Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
