Job Summary
We are seeking a trainee GRP Fettler/Finisher.
As a Fettler/Finisher, you will be primarily be responsible for trimming GRP components using pneumatic powered tools. The gel coat surface may also require finishing/polishing with DA sanders using a variety of finishing compounds. Other components such as steel bracketry/timber reinforcing/fixings/bigheads may also require fitting to the GRP product, using either GRP laminates or structural adhesives. This role requires proficiency with both hand and power tools, as well as an eye for detail to ensure the final product is of the highest quality.
Responsibilities
- Fettling/Trimming GRP using pneumatic powered tools
- Finishing and working-on the gel coat surface using a variety of tools including wet/dry paper, finishing compounds, orbital sanders, polishing machines, DA sander, blocks etc
- Fitting a variety of components to the GRP, for example timber reinforcement, steel bracketry, fasteners, and a variety of other fixings
- Perform quality checks on finished products to ensure they meet company standards
- Maintain a clean and organised work area within the warehouse
- Collaborate with team members to optimise production processes and improve efficiency
Requirements
- Attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks
- Competent at using the ‘tools of the trade’ - electric buffers, orbital sanders, routers, pneumatic die grinders, electric drills
- Skilled in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications
- Competent at using fillers and carrying-out gel coat rework if required
- An understanding of GRP finishing and associated processes
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Please note - whilst previous experience in a similar role would be advantageous, we welcome applicants who are familiar/experienced with using power tools e.g. drills, grinders, buffers/polishers etc.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £26,500.00-£40,000.00 per year
