About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Sous Chef to join our care home kitchen team. Working closely with the Head Chef, you will play a key role in preparing nutritious, delicious meals that support the health and wellbeing of our residents.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
- Prepare and cook meals to a high standard, ensuring nutritional and dietary requirements are met.
- Support menu planning and food presentation.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and safety.
- Assist with stock control, ordering, and minimising food waste.
- Supervise kitchen staff in the Head Chef's absence.
- Ensure compliance with Food Hygiene, HACCP, COSHH, and Health & Safety regulations.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to provide an excellent dining experience for residents.
Person Specification
- A caring, compassionate and respectful approach.
- Good communication skills (Spoken and written English)
- Professional Chef Qualification (NVQ Level 2/3 in Professional Cookery or equivalent).
- Minimum 2 years' experience working within a restaurant, care home, or similar catering environment.
- Previous experience in a Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, or similar role.
- Knowledge of food safety, allergens, and special dietary requirements.
- Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 minimum).
- Strong organisational and teamwork skills.
- A passion for producing high-quality meals and delivering excellent service.
Hours
Full time- 44 hours per week. Shifts worked over a 7 day rota. This can be discussed more at interview stage.
